Itinerary

Begin the tour upon your arrival in Ajmer, a city soaked in holy traditions. On arrival, one is normally driven from the airport or railway station to the hotel for check-in and relaxation. In the afternoon, the Dargah Sharif is the tomb of the Sufi Saint Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti, becomes the main attraction – a place of pilgrimage, where people of different faiths visit. A visit to the dargah offers an insight into the spiritual aspect of Rajasthan. In the evening, you can explore Adhai Din ka Jhonpra, India’s oldest mosque, which reflects the early Indo-Islamic style of architecture.

The day emphasizes exploring the holy town of Pushkar, a short drive from Ajmer. One of India’s oldest cities, Pushkar is famed for Pushkar Lake, enclosed by 52 ghats. The Brahma Temple is the principal attraction and represents the world’s only active temple built for Lord Brahma. During the morning hours, you will visit the temple and take a walk along the ghats, where you will be able to witness the rituals and devotion. Later in the day, you’ll head to Pushkar’s bustling market, popular for its silver jewellery, rose products, and traditional Rajasthani clothing. After an immersive day of spirituality and culture, you’ll retire for the night to Ajmer or Pushkar, concluding the day.

The tour then takes you to Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan and the world-famous Pink City. Driving amidst scenic surroundings from Ajmer/Pushkar sets the tone for the day of sightseeing upon arrival. Explore some iconic landmarks of the city: Amber Fort lies atop a hill and is accessible by jeep. Within this fortress lies a Rajput architectural marvel called Sheesh Mahal or Mirror Palace. The afternoon’s pit-stop will be at Jal Mahal or the Water Palace, and Hawa Mahal. The tour of Jaipur’s vibrant markets, like Johari Bazaar, Tripolia Bazaar, and Bapu Bazaar.

The day-to-day heads deep into the Thar Desert, with a transfer to Bikaner. It is famous for its camel heritage and is a serene and historically impressive place. The drive is long yet spectacular, with changing desert scenery unfolding along the way. Visit the remarkable Junagarh Fort, which uniquely sits on the plain rather than a hilltop and boasts exceptionally well-preserved palaces, courtyards, and a museum that reflects Mughal and Rajput styles. The afternoon includes a visit to Deshnok Karni Mata Temple, known for its sacred rats, or an excursion to the National Research Centre on Camel for a deeper look into local culture. Try out the delicious Bikaneri bhujia and other delicacies that substantiate its reputation.

The day is mainly dedicated to reaching Jaisalmer, the Golden City. This is a long drive, but worth it; dune views and sparse desert vegetation add to the scenery. The main objective is to arrive and check into your hotel, a desert camp near the Sam Sand Dunes. In the evening, take in the desert magic of a sunset camel safari, followed by a traditional Rajasthani dinner with folk music and dancing under the stars.

The day is all about capturing the beauty of Jaisalmer. Start with visiting the UNESCO-listed Jaisalmer Fort, one of the few living forts in the world, still a residence to a considerable part of the city’s population. Morning exploration includes winding streets, exquisitely carved temples, and the royal palaces. In the afternoon, you’ll explore Patwon ki Haveli, Salim Singh ki Haveli, and Nathmalji ki Haveli. A visit to Gadisar Lake, a historic rainwater reservoir, offers a moment of calm and serenity. Jaisalmer’s stunning golden-hued sandstone glows beautifully at dusk, also known as the Golden City.

The day is planned for the Jodhpur transfer, known for its Indigo-hued houses. In the afternoon, you will visit Mehrangarh Fort, one of the largest and most awe-inspiring forts in India, which sits atop a hill overlooking the blue houses-strewn city with majestic views and a museum that speaks of the region’s rich Rajput history. Then visit Jaswant Thada, a 19th century white marble cenotaph, built in memory of Maharaja Jaswant Singh II. The evening is planned to explore Sadar Bazaar and Ghanta Ghar.

The tour comes to an end today. Depending on your departure time, there may be a last activity, like a quick visit to the Umaid Bhawan Palace. The day ends with a timely transfer to Jodhpur Airport or Railway Station for your onward travel.
