Hey, Jaipurites or Delhiites!
Do you have a busy schedule? Can’t get enough time to explore around?
Want to get around to a sacred place in one day?
Ajmer is a place for you! In today’s fast-paced world, not everyone has the luxury of an extended stay. Fortunately, Ajmer’s strategic location makes it a perfect one-day getaway for Jaipurites or Delhiites. Whether you are a resident of Jaipur or the bustling capital of Delhi, a one-day trip is surprisingly sufficient to pay respect at the shrine of Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti
One-Day Ajmer Sharif Tour Itinerary:
A one-day Ajmer tour package requires an early start to beat the highway traffic and the afternoon crowds at the shrine. So, according to that, here’s the best timeline itinerary for your journey.
Morning – The Beginning of a Spiritual Journey
Leave your destination (Jaipur/Delhi) early at 6:00 AM. If you are in Jaipur, you’ll witness the sunrise over the Rajasthani landscape; from Delhi, you’ll observe the early morning light as you cross Haryana.
Soon after you reach Ajmer around 9 am, take a stop for a quick breakfast of poha or kachori near the railway station before heading to the Dargah.
Then enter the Ajmer Sharif Dargah around 10:30 am, when the early morning crowds disappear and the afternoon rush hasn’t arrived yet. It takes 1.5 to 2 hours here for prayers and to soak in the Qawwali.
Afternoon – Ideal for Historical Exploration
Visit Adhai din ka Jhopra around 12:30 pm, which lies a short walk away from the Dargah, an ancient mosque and an architectural marvel.
Enjoy traditional lunch at the local markets to try authentic Mughlai cuisine. Many restaurants near the Dargah serve legendary Biryani and Kheer.
Head to Ana Sagar Lake & Daulat Bagh around 2:30 pm. Take a walk through the marble pavilions and unwind at the lakeside.
Evening - Quick Detour
Begin a return drive or board your train back as per the schedule.

How to reach Ajmer from Jaipur/Delhi?
By Train (the most cost-effective way)
This is one of the best options for a one-day trip, especially from Delhi.
From Delhi: the Ajmer Shatabdi (12015) and Vande Bharat Express (20978) are the best options. They leave early in the morning and return by late evening, so you can easily travel around.
From Jaipur: many trains are passing through every hour, and the journey is merely 1.5 to 2 hours.
By Road (the flexible way)
Private Taxi Rental Service: Hiring a cab for a day trip allows you to explore Ajmer at your own pace without worrying about local transport.
Bus: RSRTC (Rajasthan State Road Transport Corporation) operates frequent Volvo and Deluxe buses from Jaipur and Delhi.
Key tips for one day trip:
Vehicles are not allowed near the Dargah entrance. Your taxi service or bus will stop you at the designated point, which is around 1-2 kms away. You may either take a walk through the narrow bazaars or hire an e-rickshaw.
Carry a scarf or handkerchief. You won’t be allowed a bare head inside the shrine.
Wear modest, comfortable clothing. Slip-on shoes are best, as you’ll be walking more at the Dargah and other monuments.
If you only have one day, then try to avoid Thursday. It’s the busiest day of the week, and the crowds can eat up 3 to 4 hours of your itinerary.
Avoid carrying cash; use UPI only. Although the small flower shops and rickshaws in Ajmer still prefer cash, so carry only a small amount in your pocket.
